JOB DESCRIPTION

To have a vision to create a new ministry that reaches unchurched kids and their families and disciples and equips the next generation to follow Jesus. It can be a part-time or full-time position, based on the candidate.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Create methods to reach unchurched kids, primarily ages 4 through 6th grade

  • Develop a vision for the parents to understand the value of kids following Jesus in their lives

  • Build a ministry to nurture discipleship and spiritual growth in and among the kids

  • Maintain a safe environment for all kids

  • Maintain and update background checks for all volunteers

  • Maintain regular communication with parents about what their child is learning, their spiritual growth and any needs you recognize their child might have

  • Recruit, train and maintain accurate monthly volunteer schedules

  • Assist in selecting and reviewing curriculum

  • Prepare a budget to submit to the Leadership Team

  • Will serve as an at-large member of the Leadership Team

  • Is directly responsible to the lead pastor

  • Foster relationships within the community

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Degree in children’s ministry or elementary education helpful, but not required

  • Paid/volunteer experience with children or early childhood, two years or more preferred

  • Experience in a rural setting is preferred, but not required

  • Paid/volunteer Ministry experience required

  • Compatible beliefs with the Apostle’s Creed/Nicene Creed

  • Self-motivated and committed to an authentic, growing relationship with Christ

  • Understanding of current trends, challenges, mindsets and needs of young families

  • Comfortable working with and communicating with parents/grandparents

  • Excels in developing systems and structures, while planning ahead

  • Has a passion for reaching unchurched families in our community

  • Sees the local church as an integral part of its local neighborhood

  • Skilled at teaching, communicating, recruiting and training people

  • Sees themselves as a missionary to their local community in our post-Christian world

  • Ability to build and develop teams to carry out the mission

  • Lives a lifestyle appropriate to a person in ministry and represents well on social media

Harmony Church is a smaller and older church in a rural setting with a heart to reach and teach the next generation how to follow Jesus in our current world. We are a church with the vision to be a good neighbor to our neighborhood and work to connect with all people. Our goal is to build a church that people can know and trust in a very mistrusting culture.
